Sewer connections and new drainage

Drainage only works if it falls the right way, and that is the part that gets compromised when somebody runs a line to suit the digging rather than the water. A drain laid flat will function for a while and then start collecting whatever passes through it.

Drainer is its own licence class and it is on ours. New connections, stormwater, pits and the drainage that goes with a build or a renovation.

Why it's different up here

Steep ground and shallow sandstone are the two things that decide drainage up here. Fall is usually easy to find and hard to control on a slope, so the risk is scouring and washouts rather than standing water, and the discharge point matters as much as the pipe. On the flatter pockets it reverses, and getting enough fall becomes the whole problem. Either way it is worth setting out properly, because a drain laid wrong is not something you adjust later.
