Kitchens and laundries use most of the water in a house, and they are where most of the leaks start. Usually at a flexible hose that nobody has looked at since the day it went in.

If you are moving a sink or an appliance rather than swapping one, the plumbing decides what is actually possible. It is worth having someone look before the cabinetmaker measures up, not after.

What we handle

  • Sink, tap and waste installation and replacement
  • Dishwasher connections and drainage
  • Washing machine taps, waste and stop valves
  • Flexible hose replacement before one lets go
  • Moving sinks, appliances and waste for a new layout
  • Laundry tubs and cabinets
  • Water and waste rough-in for a kitchen or laundry renovation
  • Filtered and boiling water taps

Why it's different up here

Older mountain kitchens and laundries were plumbed for a very different set of appliances, so a new dishwasher or a front loader often needs more than a hose swap. Lean-to laundries are the other common one up here. They tend to be the coldest room in the house with the least protected pipework in it, which is why they turn up in winter burst calls more than anywhere else.

The things people ask

Can I move the sink to the other side of the kitchen?

Usually, and what decides it is the waste rather than the water. Waste needs fall, so the answer depends on where the existing line runs and whether you are on a raised floor or a slab. We can tell you on site before you commit to a layout.

How often should flexible hoses be replaced?

They do not last forever, and a failed one empties mains pressure into your kitchen until somebody finds it. Check the date printed on the hose. If you cannot find a date, or the braiding has any rust or fraying on it, replace it.

Do I need a plumber to install a dishwasher?

The water and waste connection is plumbing work. Beyond the compliance side, a connection done badly is how you get a slow leak behind a cabinet that nobody notices for a year, and by then it is the cabinetry and the floor as well.
