Hot water systems fail in the week you need them most. They are working hardest in the coldest month, drawing the most, and that is when the element, the thermostat or the tank itself finally gives up.
We repair what is worth repairing, replace what is past it, and tell you which one you are looking at. A ten-year-old tank with a leaking seam has had its last service call.

Why it's different up here
Two things matter more up here than down the hill. First, a unit sitting outside in an unprotected spot at 1,000 metres works harder and ages faster than the same unit in western Sydney. Second, heat pumps are the best-value replacement for most households right now, but they lose efficiency in real cold. Up here the model and the siting matter. We will talk you through whether a heat pump suits your place or whether gas still makes more sense.
The things people ask
Can you replace it the same day?
Usually, yes. If it is a common size and type we can often supply and install on the same visit. Something unusual, or a change from one fuel type to another, may take a day or two to get the unit up here.
Should I switch to a heat pump?
For a lot of households, yes, running costs are much lower and there are rebates. But cold-climate performance varies a lot between models, and at this elevation that matters more than it does in Sydney. We will give you a straight answer for your house rather than pushing one product.
How long should a hot water system last?
Ten to fifteen years for most storage units. If yours is past ten and has started needing repairs, putting money into it is usually throwing good after bad.
