Plumber Leura
Leura is five minutes from base, and it gives us more drain work than anywhere else. You can see why from the street.

Plumbing in Leura
Leura is a garden town of about 4,503 people, and those gardens are the plumbing story. Mature trees and decades of planting sit right over sewer lines that in many streets are still clay, with mortared joints. Roots find those joints. If you have had one blockage in Leura you will almost certainly have another, and a camera inspection is how you stop guessing.
The housing is largely period: Federation and inter-war cottages, many of them beautifully kept, none of them plumbed to modern expectations. Working in a heritage home means being careful about what you open up and thoughtful about how a new hot water unit or a heater flue sits on a facade people care about.
At around 985 metres Leura is marginally lower than Katoomba but no warmer in any way you would notice. Frost, gas heating and winter hot water demand all behave the same. Heater flues on a Federation facade need somebody who works to Gasfitter and LP Gasfitter classes rather than around them, and a heater service in autumn is cheaper than a cold May in a period house.
Serving Leura, Leura Falls, the Mall and the streets running down toward Sublime Point.

The things people ask
Do you charge a call-out fee to come to Leura?
Leura is inside our standard service area from Katoomba, so there is no distance surcharge. You will be quoted the same rates as anyone else on the mountain, and we will tell you the price before we start.
How quickly can you get to Leura?
For an emergency we aim to be there as fast as it takes to drive it, and from Katoomba that is not far. For routine work we will usually offer you something within a few days, sooner in the quieter months.
Are you licensed to do gas work in Leura?
Yes. NSW licence 479856C carries Plumber, Drainer, Gasfitter, LP Gasfitter and Roof Plumber, and every gas job comes with a certificate of compliance.
Why does the same drain keep blocking?
In Leura it is usually roots. The older streets still run clay sewer lines with mortared joints, and decades of garden planting sit directly over them. Roots find the joints, you clear the blockage, and the roots that are still in there catch the next lot of paper. Clearing it again treats the symptom. A camera inspection shows you the actual joint, and jetting takes the roots back to the pipe wall instead of punching a hole through them.
Can a new hot water unit or a heater flue go on a period house without ruining the front of it?
Usually, but it needs deciding before anything is cut. Federation and inter-war cottages in Leura were not built around modern units, so placement, flue routing and where a pressure and temperature valve discharges all matter to how the house looks afterwards. We will walk the outside with you first and show you where it can go.
